Florida Marathons 2026 to 2027: The Race Calendar by Month

By St. Pete Run Club Coaches · Updated September 25, 2026

Quick answer: Florida marathon season runs from mid November through early March, when the state is at its coolest. The busiest stretch is late January into mid February, with seven full marathons packed into three weekends. December is the sweet spot for a fast time: cool mornings, low humidity, and flat coastal courses from Panama City Beach to Palm Beach. The calendar below lists the major Florida marathons for the 2026 to 2027 season by month, with dates confirmed from each race’s official registration page.

Here’s the problem with most Florida race lists: they mix in half marathons, virtual runs and races that folded years ago. You end up clicking through ten tabs just to find out whether a race still exists.

This page fixes that. Every race below is a full 26.2, every date was checked against the race’s own site, and every row links straight to registration. Pick your month, pick your city, and book the trip.

November 2026: The Season Opens

November is when Florida finally cools off enough to race 26.2. Mornings can still start in the 60s, so treat these as solid early season marathons rather than all out PR attempts.

The standout is the Space Coast Marathon in Cocoa on Sunday, November 22, 2026. It runs along the Indian River, it’s rated very flat, and it’s one of the longest running marathons in the state. Earlier in the month, the Central Florida Legends race in DeBary on Saturday, November 14 offers a smaller field and a mostly flat course north of Orlando.

December 2026: The Fast Month

If you only race one Florida marathon a year, make it a December one. The heat is gone, the humidity drops, and four flat courses fall inside eight days:

December is also why we put our own race there. More on that below.

January 2027: Big Crowds and Big Brands

January brings Florida’s two biggest marathons. The Walt Disney World Marathon on Sunday, January 10, 2027 winds through the theme parks and draws runners from all over the world. It’s flat, but it’s a party, not a PR course. Expect crowded miles and character photo stops.

For a quieter race, the FTC Mary Andrews Marathon on Saturday, January 16 runs on a paved rail trail outside Gainesville. It’s small, fast, and popular with runners chasing a qualifier.

Then January 31 stacks three races on the same Sunday: the Miami Marathon, the Clearwater Marathon on the Gulf coast, and the Town of Celebration Marathon near Orlando. Miami gives you the city and the crowds. Celebration gives you a very flat course and a much smaller field.

February 2027: Pick Your Coast

Sunday, February 7, 2027 is the busiest day on the Florida calendar, with three marathons in three very different places:

A week later, the Fort Lauderdale A1A Marathon on Sunday, February 14 runs along the ocean on its namesake highway. The miles are very flat, and the ocean breeze helps you forget how far you’ve gone.

March 2027: The Last Call

By March, Florida is warming up fast. The Marathon of the Treasure Coast in Stuart on Sunday, March 7, 2027 is your last realistic full marathon of the season. Plan on a warmer finish than a December or January race.

Fall 2027 and the St. Pete Marathon

Most Florida races publish next season’s dates in spring or summer. We’ll add fall 2027 races to this calendar as they’re announced.

One date is already on the board: the inaugural St. Pete Marathon™ in December 2027. It starts and finishes at Flora Wylie Park on the St. Petersburg waterfront and runs a flat waterfront course with about 57 feet of total elevation gain, measured by GPS. The course is undergoing official USATF certification, and the race will host the 2027 USATF Florida Association Marathon Championships.

Waterfront loops mean your family can watch you pass more than once from one spot. Final course maps publish after city approval.

If you’re a Northern runner trying to escape winter, or a Floridian chasing a Boston qualifier in the coolest month of the year, this is the one we built for you.

Is There a Tampa Marathon?

Not a full one. Tampa’s big race weekend, the Gasparilla Distance Classic on February 20 and 21, 2027, tops out at the half marathon. If you want to run 26.2 in Tampa Bay, your options are the Clearwater Marathon on January 31, 2027 and the St. Pete Marathon in December 2027. Downtown St. Petersburg is about a 30 minute drive from Tampa International Airport.

Which Month Is Best for a Fast Florida Marathon?

December and January. Heat is the biggest drag on marathon times, and those two months give Florida its coolest, driest race mornings. By March, you’re racing the sun as much as the clock.

Course profile matters too. Most Florida courses are flat, but “flat” covers a wide range, and Tallahassee is the clear exception.
